ABSTRACT
Este artículo presenta una breve revisión sobre lo que ha sido la educación en Ecuador, y de manera específica en el área de la salud, planteando inicialmente como han ido avanzado las diferentes tendencias de educación médica en diferentes partes del mundo, comenzando por el enfoque científico, pasando por el basado en problemas y finalizando con el sistémico; y cómo se han introducido las nuevas tecnologías de la educación en salud, posteriormente y, cuál es la experiencia con la Simulación Clínica en la Universidad de Cuenca. Finalmente, se concluye que la simulación clínica es un método muy útil en las Ciencias de la Salud como he-rramienta con fines educacionales que acelera el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de los educandos, quienes manifiestan satis-facción personal con la experiencia, valoran la integración de la teoría con la práctica y priorizan la acción de manera organizada.
This article presents a brief review of what has been education in Ecuador, and specifically in the health area, beginning with different tendencies of medical education and its advance in different parts of the world, starting with the scientific approach, through the problem-based approach and ending with systemic approach and how new technologies have been introduced in health education. Then, some basics presented in the use of new technologies in health education worldwide and what is the experience with Clinical Simulation in the University of Cuenca. Finally, it is concluded that clinical simulation is a very useful method in the Health Sciences as a tool for educational purposes that accelerates the teaching- learning process of students who express personal satisfaction with this experience, they value the integration of theory with practice and they prioritize the action in an organized way.
